Convert from Civil 3D to OpenRoads

I work in both apps. For a simple solution try this:

• Ask the survey firm to export, not save as, a DXF or an older version of the DWG. This will get you to the dumbed down graphics version of the survey.
• As Chuck suggested a LandXML for the terrain is best for a simple solution. 

If you need a fully functional survey in ORD that is a different problem with a different solution.

You need to ask them that in civil 3D, to "export to dwg" it will remove and convert any civil 3D objects to regular cell.  Once in Openroads, best way to re-create a terrain is by using terrrain from graphical filter for points and breaklines.  You can also use a macro a bentley guy have created some time ago named: level to ORD it convert all line from specific level to features definition-openroads-lines
