Can anyone else help confirm if there is an error in properties for unsuitable materials with split? The help documentation shows these new labels in an image such as below, but the text has the old labels.
What is shown doesn't make sense to me.
The image is from the help documentation and creates even more confusion for me because the symbology for "Remove and Replace" is named "Remove only".
I believe one or both of these labels in properties are wrong, but would like to avoid a lengthy testing process to determine what is really happening.
Has anyone else tackled this yet?
Hi Robert,
I had similar question raised in this thread: Volume Symbology Option Name
As you see no one responded.
From testing I can say that material subtype Removed is reported in civil report as unsuitable remaining split portion after the Removed and Replaced material subtype (under embankments) is subtracted form the Unsuitable input mesh. So any part of unsuitable input mesh that is not under embankments will produce Removed material subtype. In scenario where you use unsuitable for topsoil and manually limit that unsuitable mesh within the design footprint then the Removed will be within cuts.
I think the bottom field should be called Removed Feature Definition instead of Replaced Feature Definition as you have to excavate the unsuitable in cut and you don't put anything back in this space. Whereas the Remove and Replace for embankments makes sense and indicate that fill volume extends down to the bottom of that unsuitable input and essentially replaces it.
You might also be interested in this enhancement idea: Restrict limits of unsuitable removal to only within grading limits
I hope this helps.

Mariusz
