End Condition Modeling at Intersection

I am in the process of modeling an approach road intersection. I have created a terrain for the approach itself and was planning to run linear templates along the EOP to model the end conditions. The issue I am curious about is how the end condition modeling will work at the radii tie in points. The way we lay out radii for entrances and approaches is an arc between the mainline edge of travel way and the approach edge of pavement. The radii then gets clipped at the mainline edge of pavement. This creates a "kink" at the intersection of the approach radii and mainline edge of pavement. See screenshot below.

With the clipped radii, the transition between mainline and approach edge of pavement is not a smooth curve so I am unsure of how the end conditions will tie into each other.

Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

  • Matt,

Create a partial offset geometry feature at 0.0' offset for the radius and mainline EOP.  Be sure to select the 3d buttom on the feature definition toolbar so a vertical profile is automatically created. Create a Complex element from the two new elements horizontally then complex the vertical profiles. Then use the new complex element to run the linear template from.
