On an interstate reconstruction job, we had previously created cross section named boundaries about the Survey Centerline for the mainline.
As the design progressed the original survey centerline was modified. The overall alignment changed very little (extended both east and west) and the stationing in the areas of the Named boundaries did not shift.
However, the original alg that the cross section named boundaries were originally created about, was subsequently deleted, and replaced with an updated Survey Centerline.
The named boundaries still contain the naming convention based on the survey centerline stationing (i.e. STA 1047+00), however when reannotating the drawing models, the stationing does not annotate. I believe this is bc the original alignment that the cross section named boundaries were created about was deleted, and therefore the named boundaries are no longer associated with an alg.
Is there a way to re-assign the named boundaries to the updated survey centerline alg, so that the stationing will annotate?
I have not seen any way to re-assign or change the path Element (Alignment) assignment for cross section named boundaries. I have looked through all the properties I could find on the named boundaries in the Cross Section Group. I do not see any property relative to the Path Element name. You would think there would be something in the Civil Properties that at least indicates the name of the path element (Alignment).
We have needed to re-make the Cross Section named boundaries when we change the Alignment Geometry. The Cross Section Named boundaries are not really linked to the Alignment if you move the alignment the named boundaries do not follow. As you mentioned somehow it will label Alignments within the section, so there is some hidden connection. If you have multiple Alignments with different names within a section, it will for some reason, use the name of the Alignment that the sections were cut on for both. I have had this come up when cutting sections through intersections, both Centerline Geometry of the two roads get the same name.
If everything else is working, you could just create a label that hard codes the name in the Annotation Group.

Stephen,
Did you try and run the reattach corridor command as described in this video?

Thanks,
no, you can not do this. You have to recut the sections.
