Transitioning to OpenRoads from Geopak

My company currently uses GeoPak as the primary software for road design. Currently IT is pushing to transition to OpenRoads. Correct me if I'm wrong but OpenRoads is the all encompassing program that will take the place of InRoads and GeoPak. My question is, can the current project files we have be used in the new software? If we transition will companies still on Geopak be able to read our files. Many of our engineers are resistant to the change, I am not sure if that is reluctance to reconfiguring project standards, or simply preference.

  • Open Roads requires a particular resolution that in many cases is not the same as what people used in V8i. And certain settings within the Scales.def and units.def that some offices used are also no longer supported. We had to rescale a lot of our cells and linestyles and change our text styles to migrate. This was all on top of migrating InRoads Settings to Open Roads. It's a tedious process.
