Hello,
Using OpenRoads Designer CE 2021 Release 2 (aka 10.10.21.4)
Our Survey personnel are noticing a BIG difference between the annotation processing speed between old InRoads SS2 and ORD. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to improve the speed?
Here is an excerpt from one of my Survey colleagues: (The Text.dgn mentioned was a existing conditions file that just contained the annotation of the survey point's Notes, Descriptions, and Attributes that we created back in InRoads)

Regarding Annotations.
I just ran a test on my project. If I turn globally turn off the levels S_Point_Elevation, S_Field_Code, S_Point_Name, and S_Text in the level manager in ORD, and use the annotate all command it takes 10 minutes and 38 seconds to annotate everything simultaneously, and an additional 2-3 minutes turning those levels off, and turning the S_Text level back on. (If I don't turn those levels off it takes over 30 minutes to annotate everything), and I can't imagine how long it would take to annotate feature by feature throughout the entire project as there are 363 descriptions to annotate.
So we'll say it takes a minimum 15 minutes to annotate a medium/large project using ORD.
I then created a ground.fwd using InRoads, imported all of the dc files and the csv and created a text.dgn for the same dataset...
It took me 1 minute 43 seconds from the point of importing dc files/csv files to having a text.dgn. (I even used the combined scale factor)
With that slightly cumbersome process it was almost 9 times faster to create a text.dgn the old fashion way than it is using ORD.
There has to be a better way to do annotation in ORD, or I'm going to seriously request that we just use InRoads to create a text.dgn and give that as a deliverable.

I don't mean to be harsh, but that feels like a lot of lost time, and loading time always feels exasperating no matter who you are.
Thank You for your time and your input,
The solution we are going with is to use the Civil Labeler. When compared to the Annotate Element tool on the same project Civil Labeler is 15 times faster. Now there is an issue we have with the Civil Labeler (surprise surprise). When being used to annotate Notes, Attributes, and Descriptions of Survey Points if these points DON'T have any Notes, Attributes, or Descriptions it will leave in it's wake a 'phantom' Civil Labeler Text Element beside such points. You then have to Delete these 'phantom' elements, we use the good'old "Select by Attribute" tool to select these 'phantoms' and then delete them.
