Usually when the tools Surface -> View Surface -> Single Point -> Surface Elevation or Surface -> View Surface -> Triangles... a new window appears with options, i.e. what surface, style etc.
Recently those windows stopped appearing, now InRoads draws the triangles of the active surface automatically or prompts for the location of the single point surface elevation only. Is there an option to these prompts back on?

Check your style lock. My bet is it is toggled on.
Tools>Locks>Style.
