Alignment From COGO-InRoads

Running InRoads XM8.09

I need to know how to define an alignmnet using our existing COGO point database.  For instance, Add PI using points 101-200 as the PI's.

Where can I foind help on the syntax for accessing the cogo database form the Keyin. Seems like a previous version required a "d" in front of the points i.e.  d101 102.

Alternatley I could draw a Smartline through all the COGO points and import that graphic as our alignment.

 Thanx

  • Thanks Jason. The alignment from points worked perfectly.

Now on the second question. Is there a way to access the cogo points from the Key-in?. I've seen a bit on Civil Accu-Draw or something like that on here. Is that what is required to say quickly draw a line from point #100 to 101. We use the SO= , OE etc but have yet to stumble on GOGO point syntax.

    Thanx Again

  • Mike,

For the syntax in the MicroStation key-in, go to Help> Contents on the InRoads Group explorer.  Click on the Index tab and enter keyins.  Then click the Geometry Points (PN=) link.  This should provide you with the information that you are looking for.  For instance, select the Geometry> Horizontal Elements> Add Fixed Line command and click Apply.  Suppose I want to draw a line from cogo point 1 to cogo point 100.  When prompted for the first point, key-in PN=1 in the MicroStation key-in.  When prompted for the second point, key-in PN=100.  This is helpful when the cogo points are close together or you do not know where they are in the DGN file.

If you can easily select them from the DGN file, you could just turn on Tools> Locks> Point snap and select the points manually.  This keeps you from having to key-in anything.

There are also key-ins that utilize cogo points on some InRoads Group dialogs.  Go to the Help> Contents> Index tab.  Key-in Standard Input.  This has some helpful information.  For example, see the third bullet under Distance, Offset, Length, and Width

    I hope this helps.
