Error Writing to file

I have just installed my InRoads XM 8.9.  I am trying to create a Template, which is fine but when I try to save it I keep getting the error message:

Error writing to file C:\....

Please advise!

  • Hi, No, there are no write protections!  I can easily save *.alg files and *.rwk files.  Say I create a template on a default library.  The first time I use "Save as" and save this library, It saves on the C drive.  Now lets say I do some modifications to that template I created on this saved library.  When I press "save" it gives me the error message!  I tried re-installing the program, etc, nothing worked so far.

  • Can you provide a little bit of information regarding the computer you are using? Namely, the OS you are using, how much free disk space there is, when was the last time the harddrive was defragmented, etc.

  • We have seen this problem in our organization. We haven't found a common fix, but here are some things to investigate.  Namely, check the file path names.  Sometime very long path names, especially on a network, can make the data behave unpredictably.  Also, some of our users have found success by deleting the most recent templates that they created.  This may point to a corruption problem with the ITL file.  Sometimes, it's possible to grab a different ITL and copy the templates into it using the Template Organizer.
