Transfer Geopak data to 12D software

Hi there

I am attempting to export my Geopak design data to send to another company (that uses a product called 12D) so they can take over this project. The design is complete, however it may require changes and modifications in the future following consent and consultation.

At this stage I have given them a copy of all the associated Geopak files, but have also exported the following:

- Chains and profiles, in Land XML format

- Microstation dgn file, in dwg format

- Model and object surfaces, in TIN format

- Model triangles, breaklines, contours etc, in 3D dwg format.

If anyone has experience with 12D or generally with transferring data from Geopak to other software packages, and advice or information would be appreciated.

Thanks

  • Hi Darryl,

It sounds like you have done about as much as you can.

They won't be able to use the native GEOPAK data, but should be able to use the DWG files and Land XMLs. The TIN triangles are written to file as a "mesh" in MicroStation by GEOPAK. I'm not sure what this would convert to in a DWG. As a "next time" thought, you may want to drop the mesh back to shapes before saving as a DWG. The DWG should recognise the shapes without any problems.

You could have exported the existing and finished surace TINs to LandXML as well - but they should be able to wiork with the DWG files (I'd think). DTM>Utilities>Export LandXML

But... I think they have everything they may need and should be able to use the data you sent.
