Bentley InRoads Suite V8i - I am trying to load two files into Inroads. I am trying to find a Generic file to link to my Set Project Defaults. The two file names are "Drainage Structures (*.dat)" and" Rainfall Data (*.idf)". Any information about these two Preference files would be appreciated.
Thanks
First, the Drainage Structures (*.dat) is not a preference file but a data file that contains a list of drainage structures that would be used with Storm & Sanitary. This file is an ASCII file but you are best to edit it through the Tools > Drainage > Structures File command.
The Rainfall Data (*.dat) file is a duration frequency table. It is also an ASCII file and you should create one for your own area.
In the Project Defaults, if you do not list anything for the Drainage Structures (*.dat) and the Rainfall Data (*.dat) file, InRoads will use a generic file. The files are located in the location that InRoads was installed. You are using InRoads version 8.11 so that location, if the defaults were used, would be C:\Program Files\Bentley\InRoads Group V8.11\data\(Your Working Unit)\ If you are working in metric then \(Your Working Unit)\ would be \metric\ or if working in most of the USA then it would be \imperial\
More information about how the files can be used and how to edited them are presented in the Drainage Fundamental Using InRoads course. You can sign up for that class by going to http://lms.bentley.com
