Joining alignment with horizontal bends-Railtrack

Im trying to join two alignments (both of them with discontinuity or horizontal bends as well as vertical grade breaks) using the option "Geometry>Utilities>Append Alignment" but for some reason it is not accepting my alignment.  Its giving a message "Elements are not connectible". Is there another way of doing this?Thanks.
