Yesterday I had my Microstation V8i updated to version 08.11.07.171. We also changed to a new workspace, so my config files are different than they were Wednesday.
After the update: When I start InRoads from a desktop icon or from the start menu, it opens AutoCAD instead of V8i. So I then uninstalled InRoads and reinstalled it this morning, selecting DGN as my preferred graphics. It still opens AutoCAD.
How do I get it back to where I can load InRoads from an icon and have it start MicroStation V8i?
When you select DGN on the installation, this does not determine which CAD Platform that the InRoads Group starts up in by default. This determines which files (e.g. XIN file) are used by default.
To change the CAD platform from AutoCAD to MicroStation, go to Start> Programs> Bentley> InRoads Group and pick "Select CAD Platform." Select MicroStation and click OK. InRoads Group should now start up in MicroStation when you click its executable.
By the way, only InRoads V8i (SELECTseries 1) V08.11.07 is supported on your version of MicroStation so if you have a different version of InRoads, MicroStation should not appear in your Select CAD Platform dialog.
I hope this helps.

InRoads version is 8.11.05.47
I can load InRoads by the MDL.
What is the best combination of V8i versions of MicroStation and InRoads?
Thanks
InRoads 08.11.05.47 and MicroStation 08.11.05.17 is the best combination until InRoads V8i (SELECTseries 1) is released.
Thanks,
