There is an element in my project that is causing modeler to lock up whenever it updates the element. Modeler reports it is updating element <number> and then locks up. How can I find the problem element and get rid of it or fix it?

there is no simple way.
I'd suggest removing Objects from the Model and rebuilding in an attempt to isolate the Object that the problem element is in. Start with the last Object first.
Once you isolate the Object, got to Object>Edit and view the Element List.
Select the Element from the list that corresponds to the element ID in the error message and remove that element from the Object.
Then put that Object back in the Model.
