InRoads v8i SS1 won't install

Found the SS1 update that needs to be installed first.  I will try this.

i cannot find this update( ms081107180en_updt1.exe). Do you recall where you found it?

The MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 1) Update 1 English installation is a checkbox dependency directly under the Bentley InRoads Suite V8i installation on SELECTservices just like the Prerequisites for Bentley Desktop Applications and MicroStation V8i installations are listed as Dependencies.  When you toggled on InRoads, then this Update directly below it should have automatically toggled on for downloading.

I found the update that way. i normally uncheck the show prereq's box because i do not want to scroll thru that long of a web page. I got the error message as shown in the earlier post and began looking for the Microstation update. I looked for a whole new version first, then looked under "Enhancements and Updates". I did look at the readme link for inroads but did not see it there of course.

Is this update only there for Inroads? Or is there other benefits to applying this update outside of Inroads? I had gotten wind that the update should help with the speed of Microstation on Windows 7 machines. If this is the case then will it be more "accessible" to the users who do not use inroads? I was just thinking it might make it easier to find.

MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 1) Update 1 is not a complete version.  It is not listed under Enhancements and Updates because it was created specifically for a particular set of products.  If you click on its link in SELECTservices, the description lists the products for which this Update was created. 

The Update is mentioned three times in the readme.  It is mentioned in the last sentence under Requirements> Installation Requirements> Software Prerequisites.  It is also mentioned in the Known Issues and under Installer Notes in the Readme link.

When I run the update file, I receive the following error message:

 

Microstation V8i SELECTseries1 is installed in C:\Program Files\Bentley\Ms0811s1\Microstation

 Any idea of what's wrong?

Is the language of your MicroStation something other than English?  The update is currently just for English.  Translated versions should come later.

If your MicroStation is English, try running a repair on it before running the update.

Microstation is in English. It now seems to be a company installation related problem. Nobody at our company seems to be able to install the patch. I think I just have to wait for somebody to fix the problem!

Many thanks to you and those at your company that helped us troubleshoot this. 

Just to let everyone else know what the issue was...

We found that the MicroStation Update  Patch (08.11.07.180) will not install if MicroStation V8i SS1 (08.11.07.171) was installed using the "EasyMultiInstall.vbs". 

We were able to work around the problem by uninstalling MicroStation, and re-installing it using the "MicroStation.msi".
