MX V8i: Pavement design via input files

The only way to do your pavements via linemode/input file would be to design strings the represent the edges of the pavement layers, and then use masking to include and exclude the required strings when taking the cross sections. Remeber that you cannot have vertical faces in the sections. Below is a simple case of a 40mm wearing course. The road is made up of strings CL01, MAST, CR01. I create 3 strings to represent bottom of wearing course (WL01, WC01, WR01) - note the masking when taking the sections. In real life, the maksing would probably need to be more explicit i.e. use CL01, and CR01 instead of simply C.

Thank you for tips and I will test it in the forthcoming days. If I would have any question or problems I will be asking for help :)

Unfortunately I have now very urgent two geometrical vertical alignments for 10km of rehabilitation of dual carriageway so questions about subbase/subgrade and reports have to wait :(

I know this is very old thread but I'd like to ask how do you generate reports for cut/fill of pavement layers subgrade and topsoil strip - I mean report like the one from "Pavement and Subgrade Design..." module...in xls format ofcourse. ??

I am afraid I only know the solution with a text file. I am copying its content and pasting into Excel layout. You can also create a macro in Excel for importing text files into Excel layouts.

Do you use input files to calculate volumes??

Yes, I use input files for both volumes and plan areas calculations (and reporting). Volumes with minor options 051 and 056 and Areas with minor options 046 and 047. Below I inserted a draft for a part of such input:

Thx Alezander, I will investigate your input and compare it to reports generated by MX through "Pavement and Subgrade Design.." menu option.
