How can I remove the Applications that I am not licensed to use from the microststion Applications menu,
prior to this version I could control this with my own custon applications menu via a DGNLIB.
I do not want our users to activate products that we are not Licensed for, having them in this menu is not a good idea.
Hello All,
The only time you see the full list of products is when you start MicroStation without an InRoads product active. If you begin with a product's Program Group shortcut you will not see the list.
The arrangement isn't very different than opening Start > Programs > Bentley > InRoads Group V8i > Product. The engineer is choosing which tool they are going to use.

Mike,
What about Bentley Map? Once I activate IR, submenu with Bentley Map SS1 shows - screen attached.

Todd Lanphear:I would also prefer to not have the Applications menu show up because I have the capabilities to launch InRoads from a corporate GUI dgnlib. Why not give us the option to have the applications in the menu bar?
One of our goals for the V8i SELECTseries 1 products was to make the InRoads product line integrate into MicroStation.
We have seen so many people adding the startup to the menu bar that adding the Applications like other Bentley products was an obvious change. The InRoads Family is a single installation and i believe having the freedom to select any product from MicroStation is beneficial.
Based on this thread there is a need for customized control of the desktop and we will investigate for a future release.
I have file Change Request ST-53593.
I use my own Applications menu because I can control which programs the user can see,
This is the only way that I can police licenses, since they hosted by bentley.
Maybe we would could have the option during the install, to select what products appear in the Applications menu.
As for Bentley map,
Tech support has told me...
"When running an InRoads product, Bentley Map will not require a license.
Seconded!
Even with this, you can still get overages that are not desired. We are all feeling an economic crunch. My company wants me to find ways to prevent overages.

We just checked this and it does not look so simple. My PC has been reported with 1 Bentley Map usage on 11th FEB - same data I tested additional menu and asked about on newsgroup! Regards, Piotr
Rob,
Bentley Map should not use an extra license if you are running Bentley InRoads Suite, Bentley InRoads, Bentley Rail Track, or Bentley Rail Track Suite. If you start any of the remaining products with a workspace that automatically starts Bentley Map, then it should use another license.
