I'm using SS1 Microstation and Geopak and have imported a land xml 1.2 surface using DTM tools. When I do this, it creates a .tin file which is fine except the the import added zome 0 elevaion points around the bourdary of my surface. I was going to use the DTM/Edit/Z Range clip to get rid of the 0 elevation points, but it requires a .dat file. How do you create a .dat from a .tin? Or better yet, why did it add points of 0 elevation. I have reimported the XML file into another application and it looks fine so problem is occuring upon import into Geopak DTM tools.
Thanks
Hi Aaron,
the Help is maybe a little out of date for that tool? :-)
The LandXML file may contain more than one file and/or surfaces who's name you already have used.
The Prefix is just a method so the User knows what the TIN/DAT files, that come from a specific LandXML, are called.
Put in "Aaron" and see what happens.
Michael,What does the dialog need to create the TIN and DAT file? The Help file is vague about what I need to put in the circled field in the attached screencap.
Hi Rick,
The DTM>Import LandXML 1.2 dialog (in GEOPAK V8i SELECTseries 1) , requests a DAT/TIN prefix. Once the import process has occured, you should have both a TIN and a DAT file.
You can run the Clip Z on that DAT file and then build a new TIN (as you had been planning).
