I have been trying to use InRoads to get deck elevations along girder lines of a proposed bridge. The roadway has been defined as a surface (*.dtm). I drew the girder lines in Microstation and then defined them as geometry fies in inroads (*.alg).
I tried running a report that will give me elevations aling the girder lines, but most reports, including Horizntal XYZ, station offset increment based, etc. gives me zero elevation probably because the alignments are not at the right elevation.
Does anyone know of an easy way to use an alignment to get elevations along another surface, or to get elevations along a line on a surface, without getting into ectually defining all the girders as surfaces??
Thanks;
Mehul.
Get the points at elevation zero and import them to a surface. Set the locate lock from graphics to features.
Drape the surface features (your points at zero elevations) onto the design surface of the deck. Output to text file.
Mehul,
I see you're in PA. Give PennDOT a call and ask what workflows they can share with you.
