InRoads V8i SS1 - Import Surface DEM (tif?)

Can a DEM from a tif file be imported into InRoads V8i, SS1?  We can get this type of file via a web download.

TIA,

  • Chuck,

This cannot be done directly within InRoads.  However, it can be done through a tool that is delivered with the InRoads installation and then converted to an InRoads DTM file.

From the MicroStation menu, select Tools> Data Acquisition.  Right click on Surfaces and select Create Surface> Import External Surface> Import Raster.  Set the filter to TIF file (*.tif).  Import your file.

If you want to export the surface to an InRoads DTM, right click on the surface and select Export To> InRoads DTM.

    I hope this helps.
