Can a DEM from a tif file be imported into InRoads V8i, SS1? We can get this type of file via a web download.
TIA,
Chuck
Hi Chuck,
Data Aquisition, that was delivered as part of InRoads SS1, will certainly import the DEM data.
1) Open Data Aquisition
2) Focus on the DA data tree.
3) Right Click on the Surfaces branch.
4) Select Create Surface > Import External Surface > Import Raster.
5) Select the appropriate file type and then navigate to you file.
6) Accept the file.
The surface will be created and added to the Surfaces branch of the data tree..
Now, Select the new surface in the data tree and right click - export to InRoads DTM.
The data is now available for your InRoads project.
Hi again,
the other Data Aquisition workflow is this:
2) Drag and drop the TIF file (from Windows explorer) into the Data Aquisition data tree panel.
3) The surface will be created.
Note - depending on the imported data format, there may be an intermediate panel that offers the User the option to filter the data... to remove points from the data that may be unnecessary.
AND... This assumes that the file extension of the TIF or DEM is actually TIF or DEM. Data Aquisition knows how to process different formats based on the file extension... so these need to be appropriate.
From there, you can export the Surface to InRoads format and use it in your project.
