When trying to cut cross sections in GEOPAK, I get the following message:
"There are no Cross Section Cell to process with regards to current settings."
There are cross sections cells that get generated and I can put those into a cross section file, however, the existing ground surface is not generated. Is have checked the .tin file and all seems to be correct with that. How do I generate the existing ground surface on the cross sections cells that get generated?
MS Version 08.05.02.55
GEOPAK 08.08.02.81
TIA
Hi David,
did you use the Draw XS tool to draw the existing surface XSs?
This tool expects a Hz alignment and a TIN file.
It then draws the XS cell and the existing surface (from the TIN) into each cell.
You say that "There are cross sections cells that get generated and I can put those into a cross section file, however, the existing ground surface is not generated.". How did these XS cells get generated in the first place??
I am using the Draw Cross Sections from Surfaces option.
I do specify a horizontal alignment and a .tin file.
I have a pattern shapes file with line work in that file at the stations where I want cross sections cut. Using the Draw Cross Sections from Surfaces option, I specify the pattern shapes file to look into and also specify the level of the linework that Ihave pattern lines drawn on where I want the cross sections to be cut. When I select 'draw', the cross sections are processed and the XS cells are placed (ie: cut at the correct stations) but the existing ground surface is not generated and put onto the XS cell. I get the error message that I indicated in my first post.
I guess I don't know how the XS cells got generated in the fist place, all I know is that they do get generated but without the existing ground surface.
David,
please send me your Plan DGN, your Pattern Line DGN , your GPK file and your TIN please.
Place them in a ZIP file and send to:
michael.gilham@bentley.com.
I'll take a look at your data.
Thanks,
We resolved this problem.
The folder path contained characters that GEOPAK 2004 didnt like. We removed the offending characters and the tool works as expected.
Hello Mr. Gilham,
My name is Kevin. I am working out of Power GEOPAK V8 and designing a road design for a subdivision plat using the Road Manager. Previously I did not have an issue creating cross-sections for the road but recently I have been getting the same error message "There are no Cross Section Cell to process with regards to current settings." I wanted to know if you could assist me with this matter at you earliest convenience.
