InRoads Laptop

Hi all,

I have been asked by a fellow InRoads user to find a spec for a laptop to be used on site for InRoads design updates, during construction.

Through your experience with using InRoads on different machines, what kind of laptop should we be looking for, specification wise?

We will be required to use InRoads V8i SS1, Microstation V8i and AutoCAD 2009 on the machine.

Thanks.

  • Most recent processors will do the job.  I'd get something with at least 4GB of memory and a decent video card.  If you're used to dual monitors in the office, then screen size on a laptop is important to consider with InRoads.

Another thing I noticed is that keeping my laptop cool in the field will affect its performance.  Although, I've been to your Sudbury office and keeping cool doesn't seem to be a problem around there. :)
