Hello,
I design pavement for the first time via input files and being very delighted :) I have a question about cross section strings and calculating the cross section areas based on these strings which are needed in volume calculating. Is it necessary to "vertical closing" areas at the edges? Are these cases identical from point of view of calculating volumes between "red" and "blue" sections? Do I need to design this almost vertical "wings" at the edges of horizontal "red" section?
Best regardsAleksander Zamorski
Aleksander,
It's not necessary to close the pavement. In fact, MX will create an ACTUAL VERTICAL surface, whereas you can only create one with a 5 or 10mm offset.
Check out the attached input file...

Scott,
If my way of thinking and understanding is right the temporary section area used to volume calculation between two sections will be determined as on drawing below (between two dotted lines - only in limit where both sections are present one over/under another) - the yellow area?

Looks that way - if you change the "DTM" in the input file to:
EDIT,TMP008,3=B000,,1000,1050,10,1200,1050,10008,3=B000,,1200,1100,10,1000,1100,10999
i.e. along the centre of the road, then the volume is halved.
