We have a project where we are required to do volume calculations for several separate areas within the main project area. Each volume area is on a separate layer in the DGN file. Each are is compared to a given set of base surfaces.
We've been creating a different surface for each layer just based on the layer name manually. In some files we'll have up to 40+ volumes.
I'm curious if there is a way to create a macro that will create a surface based on the layer name, insert the breaklines from each layer to the corresponding surface and then finally triangulate and save each surface.
If anyone has any pointers or ideas it would be greatly appreciated!! I think our whole team is going to get carpal tunnel if we have to keep it up like we have been!!
I can't help with a macro. I can suggest that you explore using the Import Surface Advanced command. You can set up Rule Sets to create surfaces from graphics and assign level names for extraction. This command should speed things up in the immediate future.

Thanks Mike! We're importing from each individual level now....one level at a time. Soooo much clicking...
