ok - so I am a non technical person and I see alot of smart people belong to this site. So here is my question....
A developer wants to put a roundabout in the intersection near my house - truth be told it is on my corner. This is a rural township - should I be concerned? I know that they are all around the UK and Europe, but roundabouts are somewhat of an anomaly in rural Pennsyvania - what do you experts think?
My firm to date has designed 16 roundabouts, 6 are currently built and being used,
our first was a urabn roundabout in Glens fall NY, as part of a downtown streetscape
came out great and most love it over the old 8 minute delay at the signal
We are familiar with the ones on Route 15 in PA - Hanover and Oxford, I believe. They work well and have been there for years. People tell us the ones in NJ don't work so well. Europe, of course, is full of them and sometimes it is just a light bubble in the middle of the intersection.
