Roundabouts

ok - so I am a non technical person and I see alot of smart people belong to this site. So here is my question....

A developer wants to put a roundabout in the intersection near my house - truth be told it is on my corner. This is a rural township  - should I be concerned?  I know that they are all around the UK and  Europe, but roundabouts   are somewhat of an anomaly in rural Pennsyvania - what do you experts think?

  • Where is this roundabout being placed?  My firm is probably working on it.  We have designed numerous roundabouts in rural Pennsylvania and once people get used to them they love them.  You are going to start seeing them more and more in the states because they are safer, cost less than a traffic signal to maintain and most times don't require as much roadwork as installing turning lanes at a standard intersection.
