Greetings-
I've thought about this and I'm not sure the best way to proceed. I need to create a template for a road where I have varying areas of overexcavation - a few station limits. When I run this template, I need to generate an alternate surface representing the earthwork only (without the AB abd AC), as it will represent dirt another contractor will come and dig up in advance of my project constructing. I can create the template easily enough, and assign the points along the bottom to the alternate (earthwork or EW) surface.
The problem comes when I need to add the overexcavation to it. The first way I thought to do it was to add the overex component, assign the alternate surface points to the bottom of it, and turn it on or off using a display rule triggered by a parametric constraint. The problem there is that the bottom of my AB still needs to show in those areas. Thus, wherever I have overex, the points for the EW surface would show both at the bottom of the AB and the bottom of the overex, which would produce a weird EW surface at best, and something unable to triangulate at worst.
Another way I thought to do it is to copy the template, add the overex, and adjust the alternate surface points accordingly. I can then drop each template per the station limits of the overex. It will get the job done, but requires a new template drop every time the overex changes, and is an inherently inflexible solution.
Thoughts? Ideas? Any are appreciated!
Thank you!
