Hi guys,
Recently we came upon a problem where the contractor wanted us to report on changes in the elevation of the existing surface, areas where we had no determined points.
The image below shows the OG and our Muskeg surface.
The below image shows our template dropped on the OG surface. The lower component has two points that are looking down to the Muskeg surface. Between those points the template automatically follows the Muskeg surface.
Between these two points, where it follows the surface, we get changes in the elevation of the Muskeg surface. The contractor wanted those points reporting.
My question is, how can we report on this? Can we add a single annotation in a random area of our choosing, within the section, or can we create a report on the Muskeg surface on these changes?
Thanks in advance.
Dave?
You can add a single annotation using Drafting>Place Cross Section Note. You could extract the data from a report, but you will likely get all the points on the surface line. Probably too much.

Hi Steve, not Dave, it's Marshall,
Thanks for your reply. What does the Cross-Section note generally give you - Offset and Elevation?
The Cross-Section note will give you the information that it is programmed to give. That may be Station/Offset, Offset/Elevation, Surface Name, etc. You can create a custom note that extracts this info if need be, though if it's just elevation, there's probably one already made. If it's not in the Cross-Section notes, then check the Profile or Plan notes.
You may have to place a point in the surface if you want the exact elevation, at an exact point. You can use the Surface > Design Surface > Place Feature command, and use the Elevation from Surface option in the Set Elevation dialog box. Place the point where you need it. Make sure you have your point style defined and initialized. Event Points might work as well, give it a shot. This way, you can snap right to the exact point in your cross-sections.
Thanks for the reply and information, Jeff.
