MicroStation V8i SS2 (08.11.07.443) and InRoads Suite V8i SS2 (08.11.07.494)
New to supporting InRoads product....
Installed new MS and IR products after un-installing previous versions of both and deleted all directories left-over.
During the installation of IR, selected "Metric" and "DGN" on the install screen.
When opening MS and IR, before loading any Project data, if I check the IR "Project Options->Units and Format" tab, I find that the Linear Units are always set to Imperial.
How can I change this? Is there a .cfg file or some other file that is read at startup where I can reset this default value?
Thanks!
InRoads uses an XIN file - also known as a Preference file - by default, CIVIL.XIN stored in the data folder in the product directory. All preferences for commands with them can be saved with names - by default, many are named Default. It the Options Default Preference units are not correct, edit them to correct them, then press the Preferences button. If there is a Default in the list, click the save button and you will have saved the Default as metric.
On any preference that has no Default - either the list is blank or of those saved, none are named Default, all that needs to be done is to save one as Default and that will load when the tool is invoked for the first time in a session.
You can get InRoads to load an XIN from other locations in the Project Defaults dialog box, too.

Hi Charles,
The weird thing is that I did edit the "default" Civil.xin file's "LinearUnits" setting to "1"....but it still opens with Imperial as the units setting....that's why I was wondering if the units were controlled by a .cfg file on start-up.
It looks like we are going to upgrade this users PC now, as it is 5 years old, and other new software is not performing well on it. I hope that starting over with fresh installs will clear up this issue.
