I have noticed that the Affixes tab has Point Types of VPOB and VPOE. There are places of Prefix and Suffix for Station and Elevation. Currently, the Elevation items are not used, but the PVI Elevation values are used instead.
Also, It would be nice if there was a way to display a different annotation for VPI's without curves than are displayed PVI's that have curves. In my many years at the DOT, we always placed the station and elevation information for PVI's with curves in the same stack of labels for the vertical curve annotations. But when a PVI existed that had no curve, we would display it in the same manner as PVC, PVT, PVRC, PVCC, etc.
One way to accomodate this would be to have a Curveset VPI in addition to the VPI.
It would also be nice to have an option to place slope labels on the short tangents, in addition to the current slope locations. In other words, do not add this as an option withthe current Tangent Annotation Location dropdown list, but add a new control to allow this location in addition to, or instead of the current locations. Under Symbology, add a short Tangent Annotation check box.
Which also reminds me of one other annotation suggestion - again, going back to my DOT days, we would draw the short tangents, but only for a short length, from the VPI approximately 50 feet, as opposed to going all the way to the PVC or PVT. Possibly a setting called Minimum Short Tangent Length could be added - set to zero and the software works as it always has. Set it to any length other than zero and it draws the short tangent from the PVI towards the PVC and PVT at the specified distance.
