Template Component Transitions

I have a project that requires a curb along most of the alignment and sidewalk replacement behind said curb in certain areas.

Right now I have the sidewalk targeting a feature and I have display rules set up so that it only displays when SW feature is present.

I'm running into a transition problem though, every time the sidewalk starts it creates a transition issue and a break that goes back to the last even interval at which the template was ran (IE 10'  template intervals create a break to the last even 10' interval).

The only way to resolve this that I've been able to find is to either drop the template at really small intervals (1' or less) but this method not only takes a long time to process/create corridor but also creates very large DTM files.

Another way is to drop the template again 0.1' before sidewalk starts to minimize the gap to 0.1', but this makes it necessary to have 10's of template drops in all places of sidewalk replacement which gets hard to manage.

Is there a good way to handle this situation?

I cannot apply a transition because there is nothing to transition from, the sidewalk is only replaced in certain areas.

Any help would be appreciated.

  • If the sidewalk Points have different Names they should not connect back to a template drop where there is no Point by that name.  Point Names become feature names, features of the same name in the modeler will connect.  Not actually seeing your template this is a possible reason for the results you seeing.
