Cross Section Report

I have a problem with the Reports and Annotation of cross sections. After creating a surface with the Modeler, I created cross sections and ran the Cross Section Report and annotation. Everything was working fine. But when I made a new set of cross sections in a new drawing using the same geometry, surfaces and settings, they will not give me the feature names in the Reports nor will the annotation work. I tried making a new surface, doesn't work. So I managed to make it work once, by mistake! Generally I am having difficulty getting Cross Section Reports that include the Feature Name for each offset/elevation. I am using InRoads V8i SS1 (V08.11.07.227). Any help or clues will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • I think I might have figured it out myself. It goes back to some simple advise...the components must be displayed. Well they were displayed, but I had to use Cross Section--Update--Crossing Features and selected all on the list. So even though I could see the components were displayed, this crossing feature update seems to make them work. Thanks all.

  • The components are different than features. Features are the points at the corners of components. While you can display components on cross sections without displaying features, you cannot report on features without displaying them on cross sections.

They are also the key to annotating things like elevations, offsets and slopes. By selecting particular features in groups, you can annotate slopes in some areas while skipping others. The VAOT CAD Standards web site has an InRoads manual that explains the process in detail.
