We have a designed jug handle along with working component templates; however, Our Cut/Fill lines are ignoring the existing surface on a few of the stations when we create our cross sections. I've followed the VAOT InRoads manual closely but I can't seem to figure out what exactly is wrong. To help explain my situation, I've attached some pictures.
I've created the templates and ran them thorough the Roadway Designer. Everything came out successful. As shown below:
However this is what the section looks like when it's displayed on the cross section (Note: the dotted line is the existing surface and the proposed surface's cut line intersects it approximately 4' to the right.)
Some additional information: I'm using Microstation V8.5 and InRoads V8.7 (due to client restrictions). Any help would be great!
Thanks in advance,
-Dom
Looks like 'spanning triangles'; I believe you have no exterior boundary created. This allows triangles to be generated between feature points (design surface) along the inside of a curve. You can cure the problem by creating an exterior boundar or by toggling on the Use Features Only option in the Surface>Surface Properties>>Advanced tab for the design surface. I forget if V8.7 had a generate Exterior Boundary option in the Generate Surface command or not. I thought it did.
