Hello fellow InRoads Users,
Im about to begin the process of updating some InRoads cells that we have been using for some time and I would like to take advantage of MicroStation functionality in MS-SS2, specifically Annotation cells.
The limited testing that I have done seems to work with text assigned a text style within a cell, but I haven't had much luck with just assigning a cell to be an annotation cell.
My workflow is to place features such as EOP, ROW, Building face labels and etc... at an InRoads scale factor of 1 (one) and let MicroStation annotation scale handle the scaling. I have a cell set as an annotation cell for testing. It places correctly outside of InRoads, but not when placed by InRoads.
Have any of you had any luck with this?
Thanks in advance for your input.
Chuck
When you say InRoads is not placing it correctly, what do you mean?
I assume you verified the InRoads Symbology, say Plan Point is using XYZ scales of 1?
IMHO, InRoads V8i SS2 symbology does not support Microstation "annontaion scale",yet

Thanks guys for your responses....
So I made sure scale factor 1 on my project options, I also confirmed the cell is a cell that can be placed with annotation scale by just placing the said cell not using InRoads and it worked. But still no love from InRoads.
Interesting enough, I made another cell and made the text within it assigned to a text style and assigned it as annotation text , then placed it in a DGN using InRoads and the text in the cell did indeed adhere to the defined annotation scale of the active DGN. Cool, so that part does work.
As far as a cell defined as an annotation scale cell placed by InRoads, this appears to be not functional yet....
I'll file a CR, and hopefully it'll be functional in a future release. I would be hard pressed to believe that I am the only one who has suggested this.
Thanks again for your responses.
Chuck, my current workflow is to display the cells out of InRoads at a scale of one. Then select all cells and apply the MicroStation keyin "annotationscale add" Then the cells will work with annotation scale.

Chuck,
If text scaling works for you, you could convert your cells to a font and place them as a Symbol using your new font. PennDOT placed the cross section earth block onto the cross section sheets in v8.5 with a font, character 'a' and the old TOPO 100 font had many symbols for the surveyors. The problem with fonts is there is no way to control their size / scale when you create them. It is trial and error to get them to the correct size.
