Hello, I have the horizontal alignment and vertical alignment created already, It is for a 30km road. Now due to the design changes, I have to modify the horizontal alignment in a certain area, please see the image below, we want to modify the horizontal alignment from the cyan color line to the red color lines (approx. 600m long).
What is the best way to get this done, redo the horizontal alignment and the vertical alignment, or we can edit the horizontal alignment without affecting the vertical alignment in the other areas? and of cause, the vertical alignment in the affected area needs to be adjusted.
Anybody please kindly share your expertise. Thanks in advance.
I would use the horizontal elements tools to make this edit. You can use the delete element tool to remove the areas where the alignment has changed and then add elements using these same tools (floating and free elements in this case). By using these tools it saves you from having to recreate the entire vertical alignment.

Thanks Marc for your response. But by deleting and adding element, would this mess up the vertical alignment? The new section of horizontal alignment were 30m away from the original.
Lucy,
If you are using V8i, in File->Project Options under the geometry tab there is a checkbox for 'On Horizontal Edits Recompute Vertical Alignments'.
If you tick that box your vertical alignments will remain unchanged outside of the areas that you have moved.
