Clipped Components not honored in end area volume computation

I have used the variable manager to use mesh generation in an attempt to get clipped components to display as shapes for end area computations.

I have a road with three driveways and all fall on cross section intervals. The are setup to clip the main road corridor. I can get the driveway components to display as shapes, but the sections where the main road is clipped do not display as shapes - only as linestrings. Additionally, some sections do not display any of the component shapes. On those sections, I cannot get any indication of the subgrade.

Is there any way to manually fix the cross section graphics so that the linestrings are closed into shapes and are then honored by the end area volumes routine?

Is there a trick to using clipped components and getting the closed components to display?
