The component works as it should in the roadway designer, projecting to the surface at a depth of half an inch. However when I display the generated surface components in cross-sections

RE: Overlay Component Cross Section Display

A defect has been filed for this issue: Defect 131107.

RE: Overlay Component Cross Section Display

I agree it sounds like a bug. In a similar case I used overlay component points projected to the existing (Active) surface. Whether or not I had the box for "Add Transverse Features" checked in the Create Surface tool, transverse features were created based on the existing surface and not the overlay component points for the duration of the template drops. After reading the advice to "Include Null Points" when creating the surface, I found another fix. In the template creation, use null points for the horizontal and project to surface locations. Use the overlay component points constrained at distance 0' horizontally and vertically (or whatever offset you choose) to the appropriate null points. When creating the surface, there is no need to check the "Include Null Points" box for creating the correct surface with correct transverse features.

Re: Overlay Component Cross Section Display

This sounds like a bug. There is no reason that I can think of that would cause the null point features to cause a change in the behaviour of the overlay components. PLease file a support ticket so we can keep track of/fix the issue

When creating the surface for this corridor, I had checked, "Inlcude Null Points". I checked it off and it worked. It seems strange that this worked since I'm using Null points in my template as a reference to distinguish between areas of full depth pavement and areas of overlay. Could this be a glitch or is there something else I'm missing here.

Thanks
