Roadway Designer generated Cross Sections - not displaying cilps or other cooridors, components

Working in MX v8i SS2 - 08.11.07.536 - Roadway Designer.  I have a scheme with a Main line and Side Road corridor which clips it.  The resultant surface looks correct showing the main line being clipped by the side road, components look good as well.... but the resultant cross section do not reflect this.  The sections show the Main line slopes and components as if there is no side road.

I am a long time MX user but am new to Roadway desiger.  Is this the expected result?  I can re-section over the new design model to get the proposed top line which will represent the side road... but this does not get me the components...   Am i missing some thing?

Is there a way to display the side road components on the main line sections?  Why dont the components on my sections appear clipped (or extended to other corridors) when the surface does?

Thanks in advance for any help,

Eric

  • InRoads V8i SS2 had a similiar problem when the components need to be clipped at the cross-section border. The fix was an update to InRoads V8i SS2 (v08.11.07.566) Then you will need to load the Variable Manager and toggle on "Use Mesh Algorithim for Cross Section Components"

  • This will help, but it is not foolproof. From what I understand, once clipping occurs, the software will not draw closed shapes of the remaining elements and it will (may?) not be seen as something to use in end area cross section calculations.

From what I understand, even in Ss3 (OpenRoads, not MicroStation) once it is using the DGN file to store these elements, clipping may still result in open elements.

To guarantee that you always have closed elements, you need to use display rules or other methods to limit parts of templates where other roads tie in.

I believe this is why the introduced Civil Cells - that you can use them to create side road and driveway tie ins tha result in consistent closed shapes.
