Inroads Printing driving me CRAZY!!!

Inroads users-

I am having a very difficult time printing from Inroads.  Not the print aspect itself but the fact that the Existing ground text will NOT go to the background.  I have the reference sequences in the correct order and it appears correct on the screen but with the paper comes out of the plotter the text is on top of features.  As a test I printed from MS and it comes out fine.  So it appears to have a problem in Inroads.  Come on you smart people i know you have ran across this before and solved it.  It is NOT very efficient of time to work in Inroads and then open MS just for printing.  What shall I do???? Thanks for your advice

  • Why should that be a InRoads issue, what are your evidence?

If you print out you are using plain MS functions built in PowerInRoads. And have in mind if your printing a 3D-File , Z-value is your priority, highest Z in Top View always wins. That's MS V8i behaviour since years now. Are you using pen tables?

OK, I'm using MS V8i (SS3) + InRoads Application not PowerInRoads.

And funny, there is the next related question:

  • Thanks for the reply....The evidence is that the print from MS is good and the Print for Inroads is bad.  Same text location and same file with different results.  We are using a 3d file and all things are in order and plot correctly but this issue with text (eg countour labels).  I dont know what Inroads settings so maybe it is there.  We call Bentley and that say oh it a inroads thing but that's not our departement. ouch..so i wanted to see if you expert users have ran into this before and how you fixed it.  Thanks for the reply.

    Thank you,

  • Perhaps ->Preferences->View Options->Anti-alias Text option is checked ? In this case text elements always will be on top.

  • Joerg,

    I do not believe that!

  • Will this setting work for you on your display style? Works for us in our workflows with O.G at elevation and H.A at zero elevation.

  • Perhaps take a look at this blog on printing priority...

    communities.bentley.com/.../pen-table-priority.aspx

My guess is that this is not a PowerInRoads issue, but rather a difference with the way the printing is configured within your PowerInRoads workspace vs how it is configured in your MicroStation workspace.

If you still cannot resolve the issue then log a service ticket here www.bentley.com/support so that a technical support analyst can follow up with the problem.
