Loading InRoads from within MS

Hello -

I like to load InRoads using a custom tool (keyin mdl load civustat.ma).  However, since updating to newer versions of both IR and MS, this tool no longer "works" and results in the following Message Center errors:

"MDL Loader:  Unable to load library (DLL or MDL shared library) CivUstAT"

"OS could not load C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\InRoads Group V8.11\bin\CivUstAT.dll, error 126."

The same occurs when trying to "load" from the Utilities->MDL dialog box (the CivUstAT.ma path is listed in both the MS_MDL and MS_MDLAPPS variables).  However, if I select "Browse" and load CivUstAT.ma, it loads with no errors.  I can then close IR and the custom tool and "load" button will work for the duration of the MS session.

Operation also appears perfectly normal when starting IR from the Start Menu shortcut(s).

Is there something I'm not doing properly to get the custom tool to work?

FYI, I'm running InRoads SS2 (08.11.07.536) in MS SS3 (08.11.09.292).

  • Hi there, I copied these into my MS_DGNAPPS Config. I do get the applications menu available now but if I open Microstation by itself(not Inroads) then It keeps giving me an error window. Is that the case for you when you open plain microstation V8i? and did you find a way to fix that?
    Thanks.
  • The new machine install (newer version of v8i ss2)is using this switch and has it in the launch icon.  Our older machines (still running v8i ss2)aren't loading it that way.  I now have it working, but I'm curious to find out how the other machines are loading it now.

  • Usually, in the shortcut that launches MicroStation and/or InRoads.

But if some cfg files are missing in the appl subfolder of the cfg folder, that does not work either.

  • Anyone know what config file is used to turn the pulldown for inroads installation on?  I have one machine that isn't loading it and I can't figure out where it is set to turn it on.  I saw in one of the earlier posts that there is a switch for it but I don't know where the switch is set.

  • I was running into the same issue on a user's machine. In the past I was able to use the command line switch with no problem. Since the user is running MS SS3 and IR SS2, this wouldn't work. (our other users are using MS SS2)

The solution presented by mwlong worked and the Applications menu is now available. Thanks for posting this solution!
