Crash when selecting Profile dot

(Filed for user)

Hi,

I an experiencing a crash in Power InRoads SS3 when I select a dot in the profile view. I really dont know what the dot is - it is automatically created at the time the Profile view/window is created. So I am selecting the dot to try and find out where it comes from and, when selected, it hangs/crashes the program. I have attached the DGN file and a word document that explains the steps I am undertaking.

See further explanation below:

Crash when selecting element in Profile window.

I have created an arbitrary horizontal alignment (as shown below) in a 2D model.

I then create a Profile view for this alignment (as shown below).

Note that there is a red dot that is created at Station 0, Elevation 0.

At this time, I don’t know where this red dot is coming from... nor what it represents.

When I hover over the red dot, I get these details.

Active Profile: FitProfile

Type:               Fit Profile

Level:              Des Road Profile

When I select this red dot (I’m trying to do an Element Information to determine what the dot is), Power InRoads hangs/crashes.

Any ideas what the dot is/where its coming from and why it crashes when I select it?

  • The horizontal geometry has been created with the option enabled to automatically create the 3D. (Located on the feature definition toolbar). When enabled with an active terrain the process automatically creates a best fit profile on the terrain.

In this case though the active terrain is not in the same location as the geometry. This is obvious in the screen capture as there is no ground profile and so it has created a  point which it claims is a 'best fit profile'. This is just a test case that was not picked up and It's covered by D-124469.

This auto 3D option reacts to snaps and rules onto 3D elements and assumes the z value so is handy in site modeling situation or simply adding linework to detail models.

Unless you want a best fit profile or need it for other reasons you might want to turn this option off.

    Regards

    Ian
