I am able to view cross sections with viewer BUT I cannot get the plan view to work correctly. I am not the author of the the cross sections so I don't know any of the details other than the alg file.
When I select a cross sec set and pick the station, the Cross Section View shows me the x-sect but the Plan View goes into the black of space. I am kind of new to this new version of inroads so maybe I have missed something.
Do I need to have more than the alg file loaded? I'm thinking I do, but I don't know what it would be.
Thank you
Is the plan view showing live graphics or reference file graphics?
If the data is coming from a reference file, the global origin or reference scale might be different, so its trying to show you the active file plan view by the alignment coordinates, but if those coordinates do not line up with the other file, you will be out in space.

Here are a couple of questions:
1) Can you verify that you have graphics in the DGN at the location of the alignment? (Just making sure the plan graphics are not in a different DGN than the cross sections have been cut in.)
2) The plan display does not change the zoom level, so can you verify you are zoomed out/in to the right level by zooming in to a portion of the alignment before running the Cross Section Viewer?
Gentlemen, Thank you for your direction.
As I stated earlier, I was not associated with the creation of this particular file. There are over a thousand elements in this file.
I have 'viewed' the alignment and I see Sta, Offset, Elev, Grade & Radius (after I did a "View Previous" because I went out to space again when I picked a x-sect)........Is THIS what is supposed to be the affect I get? If so, I was hoping that if I picked a x-sect I would go to the plan view and see THAT area where the x-sect was cut like Geopak does or did, it's been a couple of years since I've used Geopak.
OK... the way you describe it going "out to space" makes caddcops suggestion look like the most likely problem. If you review the horizontal alignment, how do the coordinates of the elements compare with the corridinates of the alignment graphics that you are seeing?
I'm not sure what you mean about the coordinates. When I review the alignment it lines up exactly on top of the reference file. I can use tracking correctly with the alignment.
