file directly from surveyor and I do the following - 'extract graphics'/'build triangles'/'load dtm features'.. and nothing..
however if I take the original survey 'select all'/'drop element'.. then 'create complex chain' with microstation commands on all the contours (a lot of time and effort).. it works.. there has got to be a better way...
help!! I have a day to create a existing surface model and layout the road...

Could you please specify what product and version you are running so we may further assist you? What command(s) are you using in the product?

commands: 'extract graphics' and creates a dat file then i use the 'build triangles' command and that seems to create the tin file ok but then when use the 'load dtm features' command it does nothing.. meaning it will not create a surface.. please take a look

What you describe sounds like the survey is given to you as a proxy entity (block)
This is a cause of the app that created it. Bentley can work with these entities but the user must drop them first.
Alternatel have your user provide plain DGN or DWG graphics.
