Extra cross sections

Hi all,

I'm using InRoads V8i V08.22.07.494 on Vista.

Whenever I create cross sections, there are often a few extra displayed at seemingly random stations. I only have the key stations and template drops settings checked in the Create Cross Section>Controls>Critical Sections Tab and have the interval set to 10. Is there another setting that I'm missing?

Thank you for time,

  • A couple of things come to mind. Did you check the Custom leaf and ensure that no Custom Cross Sections have been added?  Also, do the additional cross sections fall within your desired station limits or are you creating cross sections the full length of your alignment?

  • I checked the custom leaf and there were wasn't anything listed there. The additional cross sections did fall within my desired station limits. What I ended up doing was deleting all other corridors from the ird, and the extra stations are no longer appearing (the project has been ongoing for several years and there are quite a few alternative corridors for the same alignment).

What I think happened was that the 'template entries' option works the same way as the 'key stations' option, in that it picks all template entries from all corridors on the alignment. The InRoads Reference information explicitly states this for key stations but not template drops so I assumed that a design surface knew where the template drops that created it were located (apparently not). I played around with different IRDs with corridors with different stations for dropping templates and it does appear that creating cross sections always looks to the currently open IRD for template entries, as it does with key stations.

My question now is: Does the template entries option work exactly like the key stations option?
