Some trouble shooting techniques are in order to determine the source of the problem. It could be the element, your vehicle, your file or your settings. To isolate the problem try the following

1) Test on a new element

2) Test with different vehicles or a different vehicle library

3) Test in a new clean file

4) Test with a different workspace

5) Test on a different computer

If all else fails, post your file and let others have a look at it.

neilw, thanks for the advice.  I tried different types of elements, different vehicles, new file.  Our office is beginning to use PC for performing various tasks and I'm beginning to think this turning path error is caused by my lack of knowledge of the software.  Any suggestions on a good source for step by step instructions for various functions offered by PC?

So far I have not found any single help source that covers the entire product. I did try Axiom for a short period and they had a substantial archive of training resources, but I found there were some aspects of the software that were not covered at all. That was several years ago so they may have filled some of those gaps by now.

I also had access to Bentley learn for a couple of years and it was helpful for learning the basics, but again many aspects of the software were not covered.

I have yet to find any books that cover the product. Thus I have had to resort to reading the help files (which is a difficult way to learn), the Bentley Community forum & trial and error. I believe the reason there is so little support available is there are few in the private sector using the product and larger organizations such as DOT's provide in-house support for the users.

If you care to post your file I can take a look at it and see if I can find any problems. All I would need is your centerline element to test it. Before you post your file, try running the tool on it to confirm that it doesn't work for you.

Actually since this is such a simple procedure I think it is likely a workflow issue. So instead of submitting a file, let me outline the steps to make sure you are doing it properly.

Create 2 separate elements to represent the incoming and outgoing paths of the vehicle. These elements must be single unjoined lines or curves, not smart lines or complex chains.

Initiate the tool and apply the settings. Using the option to select the outgoing element, double click on the incoming element to accept it, then pick the outgoing element. A schematic of the selected vehicle will appear attached to your cursor, oriented to fit the turn path between the elements. Position it where you want and data point to place it. That is all there is to it.

If you are receiving error messages while doing this then there is likely a problem with your software and you'll need to get support.

I should have said "using the option to select the EXIT element", not "OUTGOING element".
