How to Automatically get offset/elevations on fixed points on a cross-section? How to export these offset/elevations to Excel?

Hello

I am running Microstation V8i.

I need to get offset and elevations of a particular set of points on a cross-section. Is there a way to get these elevations if I fix the offset to increase by X feet after every DP? In other words; if I fix the offset; can I get the elevations of these points by automatically using Geopak?

Also, is there a way that I can export the offset/elevation that I get for these points into Excel?

Thank you.

  • Hi,

I'm sure there's a number of ways to achieve this and "how" you are creating your cross sections may dictate the answer.

    GEOPAK SS2:

If you create your cross sections using criteria, you could have the criteria create a point and piece of text on each XS at the location you wish to export the Station/Offset value for and then find and extract that point to COGO by using the XS Reports.

There is a tool there that can search XSs for a piece of text and store that point into COGO.

And, using the Survey reporting tools, you can tabulate that list of points that are stored in COGO as a Point Number/Station/Offset/Elevation (the actual columns are configurable) and place that table into MicroStation and/or store it as a text file.

If you are not using criteria to create your XSs, please provide information regarding how you are creating them for an alternative answer.

  • Hello

The XS that I created are drawn using the "existing ground cross-sections"'; from XS pattern lines that I drew on the "existing topo" file. These sections are created directly from the TIN model. There are no proposed cross-section elements.

    Thank you.
