Nodes With No Width

Question

Generating stormwater conveyance system profiles. We set up a custom drainage library, created and analyzed a network. When generating a profile of the network the nodes are shown as single lines. I haven't been able to determine where I need to define the width of the node or structure besides the grate information in the drainage library. Do the new structures/nodes require custom criteria files? If so, any suggestions (not in Bentley Institute) on criteria basics and setup?

Assuming you created the point elements with the Linestyle and Class that was specified in the help then you updated the nodes in the project so that you could see the new point elements in the cell, then you would have edited the pipes and had them connect to the new pipe location points or point elements you created. Once you did all that you would then need to recompute the profile. To be safe you may also want to designate a hydraulic center point in your cells.

The drainage profile is created on the fly by the program the profile will start at the upstream node at its hydraulic center and go from there straight to the pipe connection point then down the pipe to the end or downstream pipe connection point then to the hydraulic center of that node and then onto the next pipe connection point. It continues in that manner to the end of the profile. The width of the node is a determined by where the pipes conncect to the structure and the hydraulic center. So if your pipes connect to each other then there will likely be no width or a single line representing the node.

The node cells will have pipe connection points on them if someone has modified the cell library. Turn on Constructions in the View Attributes and look for points in the cell. If they do not exist then you would need to modify the cell library and add them in.
