TDS codes - PC & PT Does not work as feature code anymore in SS3

Hello,

I am from the Survey Department for SHA in MD, when our Field crews send in their collected data, a line feature as (TC ST, TC, TC, TC PC, TC, TC PT, TC) does not work anymore because I have noticed that PC is now a linking code and it starts a new line, I manual edit the previous point with JNC or JPT to connect the line.

Does Anyone have any idea how to get the PC and PT linking codes back to feature codes so they work as usual?

Any Help Greatly Appreciated!!!

Thank You

  • you can edit the linking codes. please see this video

  • Thank You for your answer, but the video does not go into detail about changing the linking codes, not sure if it is because the language he is teaching in? or maybe I asked the question in an awkward description.

I'll try again, when I download a field file into SS3, the linking codes work with ST but not with PC, even when I change from startPC to ArcPC, is there a way to change the numerical value so that it is read as a code feature (secondary linking code) and not an actual primary linking code?

    Thank You

    Any help is appreciated

  • you are welcome.  can you please post your dgn, ascii, xml and cel library. i would like to look at your data so that i can advise you properly.

    thanks

  • I have already reported some of these issues.

Ss3, introduces some new "features" for processing survey, but one area that it screws with is control/linking codes vs alpha codes.

The help file explains that you cannot have a control or linking code that is contained within any alpha codes. This is a big problem.

I have attached a TDS RAW file that I can create from any XIN file. It creates pairs of store points. If there is a Draw Connecting Line of Draw Line to Previous setting, it adds an ST to the first point or adds a JPT## to the second point to make a figure. Otherwise, it simply stores two points.

When I run it in Ss2 Data Acquisition, the following codes fail: STANK, STAR, STONE, CLPR, PTREE, STUMP and CLUPR

They fail because ST, PT and CL appear at the front of the codes. I made the settings change to require the linking code after the alpha code and also added a space  after each control code. All of my attempts to use a current setup and a file that works in traditional InRoads Survey have failed somewhere. Right now, I am getting all of the alpha codes to work, but my ST linking code is being read as an undefined alpha code. So the only linework I get is when a Join Connecting Line is defined with no Draw Line to Previous - which is where a JPT## is used.

There is also no JNC or dash copding support - InInRoads Survey, to draw a line between a GUY and an EP, TP, or UP, you can use EP-GUY or GUY-EP as well as GUY JNC EP or EP JNC GUY. There is no equivalent in this new Survey tool.

I am pleased to see MD SHA looking at this new tool as it offers some new and additional capabilities, but there are some that we lose.

  • Hi Caddcop,

I have found the linking codes to be the biggest problem so far. I will have to look at my file again to see if any regular field codes are not being drawn becasue of the linking code problem you mentioned.

I haven't seen any problem with my ST to create a line of something like a TC or PJ

Have you set the preferences in the linking codes section using the linking code position?

    Thank You
