Is there a way to convert a Microstation element such as a complex chain or a linestring into an Open Roads horizontal alignment? I have my roadway edges all drawn using MicroStation elements, and I would like to convert them into horizontal alignments that I can use to control my corridor templates. I know how to do this using InRoads native alignments (.alg) and Inroads import alignment commands. I would like to know if the Open Roads tools can do the same. Otherwise, I will need to import into my .alg and then export the alignment into an Open Roads horizontal alignment. Seems to me like that's too many steps.
All you have to do is run the "Set Feature Definition" command in the General Geometry tasks.
If you want to go a step further and assign some rules to the chain, run the "Create Civil Rule Feature" command, this will assign some rules that will allow you to edit the alignment with the civil manipulators.
